TOKYO-HANEDA, JAPAN - PLAYGROUND

After paralleling the Shinkansen, Tokaido, Yamanote and other rail lines for one kilometer, the Tokyo-Haneda Monorail makes a sharp 90 degree turn towards the man-made islands of Tokyo Bay. Cherry blossom petals are falling to the ground and a few children enjoy the playground, oblivious of the monorail a few feet above. Note the unique four-pronged pylons, a remnant of 1960's build-it-big design.
